I had the loan forgiveness through a third party who serviced my loan. Meaning the loan would be forgiven after 7 years. I’ve been with that company since 2012. In 2019, the actual company that had my loan dropped that third party. Because the loan company didn’t have my personal info they could not inform me and my loan went into default. After I made payments to get it out of default, another company picked up my loan with no record of my loan being in a forgiveness program. So now my time is reset. So it’s another 10 years I have to pay into a program and hope my loans are forgiven.

If you are referring to the PSLF program there has been a recent overhaul to the program. Many loan servicers led customers astray causing many of the payments not to count. However with the new modifications old disqualified payments can count. The form to file is online if you Google. You have until October 2022 to refile. I hope this helps.
